H&F Free Schools swamped with applications

Parents have voted with their forms and deluged the Free Schools opening in Shepherd's Bush and Hammersmith this year with applications. The Evening Standard reports that Hammersmith Academy in Goldhawk Road has received 632 applications for its 240 places, while there have been 445 applications for 120 places at Toby Young's controversial West London Free School and 63 for 60 places at Ark Conway Primary in Shepherd's Bush.

So it seems whatever the arguments locally it's clear which way parents themselves are leaning and that, coupled with our Council's determination to suport them, means they are very much here to stay.

So you'd hope maybe we can start to wish them well and do a good job for our kids, wouldn't you?!

(Personal declaration - I am not one of the applicants)
