The top of Askew Road this evening on the corner with Uxbridge Rd resembles a major incident, lights flashing and lots of noise. I hadn't really noticed the yellow signs that in fairness have been up warning that this was going to happen for the next 2 weeks.
So in case you're as unobservant as me the Askew Road will be shut from 2100 to 0500 every day from today for 2 weeks. For resurfacing apparently. Bugger.
If you're inconvenienced spare a thought for those unfortunate enough to be living next to that racket - it really is loud!
It's unbelievable. Shockingly loud noise in the middle of the night. There are a lot of very upset people - particularly visible are the parents of sleepless kids. I don't know what they're thinking. Is the Askew Road so vital an artery that it can't be closed in sections during the days?
ReplyDeleteI can well imagine - I was only going to the shops opposite to get some stuff, to be confronted by that tarmac cacophony! Do you live near there? Does it really go on till 5am?
ReplyDeleteYeah, I live on Becklow Road - but a couple of hundred yards further down. I was walking a friend to the bus stop on the Uxbridge Road at about 11.
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know, they were working til 2am. I shot some video on my phone, but somehow missed recording the pneumatic drill that was blasting away outside Becklow Gardens. Was a weird scene.
