Sorry to be so cynical, and if they do work in the community then that is always a positive thing, but claiming it is without political motivation is just untrue.

Politicians always say they've come from the streets etc. Shaun grew up not very far away and obviously spent a lot of time in Shepherds Bush, but Slaughter has spent 50 years here. Being a Barrister too, surely just makes him more qualified to talk about the law and vote in government. Bailey seems to work on instinct and I don't think I'd trust him to make sensible decisions in parliament - and that's what they're there for!

Sometimes Slaughter goes on and on about local issues - yes the council are bad, so vote for labour in the council! - but can Bailey really deliver in parliament? Not sure I'd trust him.

Oh, and the Green might look nice, but if you have to be wealthy enough to buy one of the new flashy apartments set to be built on peoples homes so as to enjoy it, is it really worth it?Michael Willisnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1131658095945044290.post-3309794863408554752010-02-25T20:01:12.000+00:002010-02-25T20:01:12.000+00:00I'd like to see Shaun Bailey's response to...I'd like to see Shaun Bailey's response to each of these specific points and claims - particularly about the Conservative council's decisions on social & affordable housing, and a Tory cut in police numbers, which seems to be in direct opposition to Bailey's final point in his interview.
In fact, it would be good to see all the three main parties' candidates responding directly to each other's interviews.Ruperthttp://twittervlog.tvnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1131658095945044290.post-13192372936452645962010-02-26T15:56:47.000+00:002010-02-26T15:56:47.000+00:00"Andy" Slaughter tries his utmost to pre..."Andy" Slaughter tries his utmost to present himself as a local man of the people, but when it comes down to it, he's a barrister who was educated privately at Latymer School and has worked his way up the political "greasy pole". Shaun Bailey on the other hand does a real job, turning the lives around of disadvantaged young people and helping them to find real purpose and achievement. Bailey's positivity in his interview - concentrating on what he would like to do and see done locally - contrasts starkly with Slaughter's relentless negativity and constant carping against the Council. As a resident I have been delighted to see the improvements around Shepherds Bush Green which used to be a dirty run-down eyesore. No longer. It is now a place where you would not be ashamed to take visitors from anywhere in the world.jonathannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1131658095945044290.post-84833159995941664242010-03-10T05:33:50.000+00:002010-03-10T05:33:50.000+00:00[...] and committed himself to do just that – list...[...] and committed himself to do just that – listen.
