You forget how recent all of this was. <br /><br />My partner's grandma was walking home during one of the first bombing raids over Blackheath, when her Dad ran out of the house and pulled her into the cellar just before the bombs started coming down. When they emerged, the fence post from the front gate had gone through a window and come to rest on her pillow.<br /><br />My own gran was in the East End - Plaistow.
